We store only the figures extracted from your documents: salary, TDS, interest, dividends, and your capital-gains rows, so you can return without re-uploading. We do not keep your original document files. Most uploads are read in memory and never written to storage. Files over 4 MB are written to private temporary storage so the server can read them, and deleted after reading.
Spreadsheets (CAMS, KFintech, broker exports) and text statements are parsed by deterministic rules on Klaro’s own servers first. Pages of uploaded documents that those parsers do not recognise, or figures they could not read, such as scanned or image-only PDFs, are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic’s API) to read the figures; they are not used to train AI models and are not retained by Klaro after extraction.
Your extracted figures are stored in our database (Supabase), encrypted at rest, and accessible only to your own account, enforced at the database level, not just in the app. All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
If you ask to be emailed before an advance-tax deadline, we store your email address and the chosen instalment date, nothing else, until the reminder is sent or you ask for removal.
We never sell your data. We use a small number of service providers to run Klaro, including the extraction provider above. Each processes only what is needed to provide the service.
You can delete your tax data at any time from within the app; deletion is immediate. Payment records are kept, as required for a paid service.
