About

Priya Phadtare

I founded Klaro and I write its tax articles. I built the product because reconciling my own family’s capital gains across an AIS, broker reports and fund statements was harder and less transparent than it should have been.

I am not a chartered accountant. Klaro is software that computes a return by deterministic tax law; it is not tax advice, and this page does not present me as a tax professional.

How Klaro’s tax content is researched

Three rules govern every article here.

  1. Every claim about the law is checked against the current Income Tax Department and CBDT pages before publication, and the official pages it rests on are listed at the foot of the article.
  2. Every worked example is run through Klaro’s own engine before publication, so the figures shown are the figures the product computes, not numbers typed into prose by hand.
  3. Every article states the assessment year it applies to, because tax rules change year to year and a figure that is right for one year can be wrong for the next.

Dates and review

Each article carries a published date and a last-reviewed date, and is re-reviewed when the assessment year changes, so a reader can see how current it is before relying on it.

[Not currently reviewed by a practising chartered accountant.]

That statement is here because Klaro will not claim a review that does not happen. The articles are researched and engine-checked as described above; when a practising chartered accountant does review them, this page will say so, with the date.
